Do Seals Drink Water?
The other day me and my mom were watching a PBS documentary on seals (That's what you watch on Saturday nights when you only have basic cable). But my mom asked "How do seals drink water?" I thought about it and it was a question I've never thought of before. It makes sense that seals would have to drink water since they are mammals. But dolphins and whales are mammals and don't have access to fresh water. So I assumed that they just drink the salt water.
I did some research and the San Diego Zoo said: "Sea lions don’t need to drink water—they get all the water they need from the food they eat."
Ok, but then Scientific American said that sea mammals sometime do drink sea water if they have to. So their pee is 2.5 times saltier than land mammal pee. But sea mammals will sometimes go and drink fresh water or eat snow if they can.
stop hurting seals it is so wrong losers
i dont like the picture ... i think killing seals is WRONG & SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know. Killing baby seals is horrible. You guys should look into Dolphin massacre. That's also horrible.
Why put up such a horrible picture with a question that has nothing to do with it seals shouldnt be killed its wrong.
Kill a seal, save a fish :)
